Device modelling

One direction strong sustained by papers and chapters in published books is the modelling of MOS transistor from the point of view of precise distortions characterisation. One recognition of this research field is my nominalization like chairman of modelling section at International Conference "Applied Simulation and Modelling-ASM06", Rhodes, Greece, June, 2006. The papers with this theme were accepted at prestigious International Conferences (BioMEMS and Nanotechnology, SPIE's International Symposium on Microelectronics, Perth, Australia, 2004; MSM-Nanotech, San Francisco, California, USA, 2003).

MEMS

Electromechanical Microsystems represent one of the miniaturisation solution based special of microelectronics technology and micromachining. Micromachining can be on surface or volume and used together conduct to complex structures like smart microsensors, microlabs on chip or micromachines. The main directions were resonant microsensors on silicon in planar CMOS compatible technology, vacuum encapsulated microsensors, integrated micropumps, chemical sensors, microfluidic microsensors, nuclear radiation sensors. These aspects were presented in two books and papers at International Conferences (Micromechanics Europe 1996, Barcelona Spain; Kongressmesse fur industrielle Messtechnik-MESS-COMP'95, Germany).

Solar Cells

Considerate like unpolluted alternative, electrical cells stay also in the researchers attention. The main aspects were increasing the conversion efficiency by modelling and simulation of the technological processes and also of the devices. One important factor to increase the solar energy conversion efficiency was the special technique for surface micromachining. The papers with this theme were accepted at important International Conferences (XlV-International Materials Research Congress-IMRS 2005; Symposium 4:Solar Cells and Solar Energy Materials, Cancun, Mexico, 2005; IEEE/LEOS International Conference on Optical MEMS, Finland, 2005).

Contributions value

The contributions in the field of MOS IC fabrication, MEMS and solar cells were pointed in papers presented at important international conferences from which 18 are ISI indexed. These contributions were introduced in the books and course notes published and also in new projects and laboratories. So these were immediate accessible for the students which were informed about the news in the field. That permits to the students to rapidly integrate in the research and development activities or projects in the microelectronics domain.
